Welcome to The Inclusive Environment, a personal project aimed at sharing my academic work, educational materials, and other environmental resources.
I am currently a first-year Geography PhD student at The Ohio State University, where my doctoral research explores the intersection of LGBTQIA+ livelihoods and energy development in Appalachia. Outside of my doctoral studies, I am also a Board Member for OUT for Sustainability (OUT4S), a national non-profit that co-creates a platform for environmental justice and climate resilience by and for the LGBTQIA+ community. Prior to Ohio State, I was an Assistant Program Manager of Energy Efficiency at TRC Companies, Inc., where I ran New Jersey’s Residential New Construction incentive program. I was also an Alumni Engagement Manager on the Climate Corps team with Environmental Defense Fund for the Summer 2023 fellowship season, where I managed nine fellow engagements in energy efficiency and environmental justice.
I recently graduated from West Virginia University in 2021, where I completed a MA in Geography and a Graduate Certificate in Women’s and Gender Studies. My thesis investigated LGBTQ+ undergraduate student understandings of the environment and climate change in Appalachia. A copy of my thesis is available here.
My interests as a feminist and queer geographer more broadly include LGBTQ+ marginalization inside and outside of climate disasters, sustainability issues in higher education, energy policy in Appalachia, disability studies, and the politicization of climate change.
